The Addressograph trade show exhibit was a central component in the introduction of NewBold Corporation's new products to the Healthcare market for 2002, particularly the introduction of PatientWorks software. As has been stated elsewhere in this web site, the successful launching of PatientWorks required a major upgrading of the perception of Addressograph in the mind of the consumer. The shift from low-tech to high-tech is never an easy one and when these are perceptions of long-standing, the task is that much more difficult. So the move from simple mechanical imprinters to sophisticated electronic forms software applications required a bold new presence ad a redefining message both in print and in person. This trade show booth, together with exciting print collateral, a compelling advertising message, and a very edgy animated video as the focal point of the exhibit helped in accomplishing this metamorphosis. In addition, the outstanding quality of the PatientWorks product made the evolution a reality. Along with designing every aspect of both the Addressograph Healthcare and PatientWorks campaigns, it was my good fortune to have created the names and brand distinctions for these products.

London Town Signage
As one of the most significant archeological sites on the east coast, and the largest dig in Maryland, London Town represents an important historical site and an important historical tourism destination. As it is located in Anne Arundel County along the bank of the South River, it was a key feature in the marketing of Historic Annapolis. Unfortunately, the most interesting and significant aspects of London Town remain underground and hidden from view. It therefore became essential in my marketing concept of this attraction, to promote the unseen and to play to the excitement of the imagination and the "as yet unearthed." The idea that profound history exists just below your feet was a compelling one for me and sparked the idea that London Town must be experienced "In The Mind's Eye" to be fully enjoyed.
The signage samples presented represent that marketing presentation. The photograph to the right represents one of a number of pedistal designs that I created. These free-standing signs were intended to place the viewer and offer a point of reference. They described the individual archeological excavations and attempted to suggest the thriving colonial village that once stood on the hillside. From a functional aspect, these pedistals had to be easily spotted, but non-obtrusive, weather resistant and easily changable as ongoing research and new discoveries neccessitated revisions in the printed descriptions. Furthermore, they needed to be economical as the number of these signs increased with each new discovery.
The finished design was so successful that other Maryland historic and cultural sites began using the design.

Three-Dimensional Design:
Exhibit / Trade Show / Display / Packaging / Signage
The consumer products project was launched in March, 2001 with test markets in some of the United States largest office supply retail outlets. The product offerings included the new Addressograph Model 875, Addressograph Model 990, and the new Addressograph disposable credit card cleaner - CleanSwipe. The packaging attempted to play-off of the heritage of the Addressograph name and mix 1950's retro design sensibilities with a contemporary color treatment. From a more practical perspective, these package designs needed to protect the products from the normal abuse of the store environment and very quickly and clearly
convey the nature and function of the
product to the retail customer. By working
closely with both the printer and the
"bubble pack" supplier I was able to create
the finished packaging pictured here.

development of CleanSwipe for the
